Getting around Madrid

It is easy to get around Madrid on foot as the city is not very huge. However, you can enjoy beautiful views if you try the cable car from Calle Pintor Rosales all the way upto Casa de Campo.

Parque del Buen Retiro

Beautiful gardens with landscaped lawns, artificial lake, monuments made of marble and elegant buildings which you can spot occasionally littered around the place. Parque del Buen Retiro has so much greenery about the place and is ideal for contemplating. Weekends can however get a bit crowded. The sphinx-laden Egyptian fountain and the massive mausoleum of Alfonso XII are top calling cards.

Spend a few beautiful moments at the lovely rose garden here, "La Rosaleda". The staue of El Ángel Caído which stands here is believed to be the first statue constructed in honor of the dark lord.

Madrid Zoo

The madrid zoo is located on the outskirts of the city. It can be very well worth your visit on a Madrid city break.

Toledo

Toledo is an interesting town which you can think of visiting. A cheap trip by rail can take you to the place. This town once served as the capital of Spain and today a visitor can view many restaurants where they can think of a good meal as well as medieval buildings on a day trip.

El Retiro park

If you want to get a glimpse of the varied people of Madrid and a peep into their lives, you can probably visit El Retiro. A beautiful green park with lots of people strolling. You can enjoy boating out in the sparkling waters and watch funky dances of locals who dance to the tunes of crazy tribal drums amongst the many status in the park.

La Pedriza

A marvellous natural park. It gets filled fast. So take care to go early. Summer is the best time to be here. What you will actually see is a mountain river cascading to form beautiful pools, some deep, others shallow. A plunge in the waters here and it can turn out to one of the most refreshing summer experience you can have!

Royal Botanical Gardens/Jardin Botanico

After spending some time immersed in the Prado museum, you can think of dropping by the botanical gardens just close to it. A place where you can take in some quiet or read your favourite book. There is a gallery here which changing exhibitions and it features the work of contemporary artists.

Cheap and rejuvenating! That's what the Royal Botanical Gardens is all about. You can explore the wide variety of plants here or simply while away time relaxing under the shade of the numerous trees here.

Barrio de Salamanca

Look up and you can see the beauty of Madrid. I am not joking. The buildings in Barrio de Salamanca stands proof to this fact.
